The 2028 MLB All-Star Game is headed to Oracle Park, with Major League Baseball announcing Friday that the San Francisco Giants will host the Midsummer Classic for the first time since 2007 and the fourth time in the city’s history.
According to the league, Oracle Park will stage the event in 2028, marking San Francisco’s All-Star hosting history in 1961, 1984, 2007 and now 2028.
While it will be the fourth All-Star Game played in San Francisco, it will represent the sixth time the Giants franchise serves as host. The Polo Grounds in New York, home of the then New York Giants, staged the second All-Star Game in 1934 and another in 1942. The franchise played in New York from 1883 to 1957 before moving to California, while the Brooklyn Dodgers relocated to Los Angeles in 1958.
“The San Francisco Giants are incredibly honored to host the 2028 MLB All-Star Game at Oracle Park,” Giants president and CEO Larry Baer said in a statement, adding that the club looks forward to welcoming fans and showcasing the city and organization. He thanked Major League Baseball for the opportunity and pledged an “unforgettable All-Star experience.”
MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred said San Francisco “will be an outstanding host for All-Star Week,” according to the announcement.
Recent and upcoming sites for the event include Citizens Bank Park in 2026, home of the Philadelphia Phillies, and Wrigley Field in 2027, home of the Chicago Cubs.
The decision arrives during a difficult season for San Francisco. The Giants are 50-71, sitting 14th in the National League and 27th in MLB under first-year manager Tony Vitello. They are on pace for a third losing record in four years and a fifth straight season without a playoff berth.
