Meghan in The Gentlemen is reportedly in the works, with the Duchess of Sussex in discussions to make an acting comeback on Netflix’s hit series.
Industry reports say Meghan is in talks to join a third season of The Gentlemen, which has not yet received a formal greenlight. The series, created by Netflix, extends the world of his 2019 crime comedy film of the same name.
Details of any prospective role are not yet known. There is said to be no signed agreement and no official announcement at this stage.
The speculation follows closely on reports that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex plan to relocate from the United States to the United Kingdom in September after six years abroad. Early chatter has linked the move to Meghan’s potential return to acting.
Meghan in The Gentlemen and her acting career
Meghan is best known for playing Rachel Zane over seven seasons of the legal drama Suits. Her television credits also include CSI: NY and 90210.
On film, she had a small role in the comedy Horrible Bosses and appeared in the 2015 crime thriller Anti-Social. She also headlined two Hallmark titles, When Sparks Fly and Dater’s Handbook.
More recently, she filmed a cameo as herself in the Amazon comedy Close Personal Friends alongside Brie Larson and Jack Quaid.
Harry and Meghan signed a multiyear deal with Netflix in 2020 reportedly worth about 100 million dollars, which was renewed last year. Her principal release with the streamer to date has been the lifestyle series With Love, Meghan, which drew largely negative notices from critics.
In a 2022 interview, Meghan said a return to acting was unlikely, stating she was done, while adding, “never say never.”
The Gentlemen’s first season drew strong responses from both critics and viewers, according to Netflix. Season two is scheduled to debut in September, with Theo James and Kaya Scodelario returning and Love Island host Maya Jama joining the cast.
