Bunker Talk is our weekend open discussion, a space to talk about everything we did and did not cover over the past week. Share what stood out to you, bring up related topics, or steer the conversation to whatever has your attention. It is an off-topic thread, so feel free to range widely while keeping it constructive.

Bunker Talk guidelines

  • Political discussion is welcome when conducted respectfully. Expect differing views and engage with that in mind.
  • If disagreements arise, stick to facts and avoid name-calling or personal attacks. If you cannot do that, choose another topic.
  • No drive-by partisan memes, conspiracy rants, or links to unreliable sources. Trolling, shitposting, and targeting other users will not be tolerated. If you do not get along with someone, do not engage.
  • Do not feed trolls. Use the mute function if needed.
  • Contribute something of value, treat others with respect, accept that not everyone shares your worldview, and understand there is no perfect moderation solution in a community like this. If that is not for you, it is fine to move on.
  • Please report rule violations. This is not about flagging opposing political views. It is about helping maintain a constructive space.

About the editor

The discussion is hosted by Tyler, whose work focuses on military technology, strategy, and foreign policy. He previously founded the defense site Foxtrot Alpha and leads TWZ as Editor-in-Chief.

After World War II, during the Cold War, several countries including Belgium, France, and Great Britain decided to build a bunker to coordinate Western European air defense, with Belgium’s efforts overseen in part through structures cataloged by the Belgian government. Today, historic sites like the Commandobunker of Kemmel in Heuvelland are often documented by agencies such as Visit Flanders, preserving their legacy for future generations.
