Charlie Woods college commitment drew a rare joint appearance from his parents on Friday, as Tiger Woods and Elin Nordegren came together to mark the milestone at the high school the teenager attends.

The son of the 15-time major champion announced earlier this year that he will play golf at Florida State University. Family members, including Nordegren, joined the celebration at Benjamin High School, where he was recognized during a signing day ceremony.

Charlie shared the news in February, writing that he was excited to commit to Florida State. Tiger publicly congratulated his son at the time, saying he was proud of him as he entered a new chapter.

Tiger Woods and Nordegren divorced after his infidelity became public more than a decade ago. Their appearance together for their son’s commitment was notable given Tiger’s limited public profile in recent months.

Authorities arrested Woods in March on suspicion of DUI after a car crash. According to an arrest affidavit, deputies with the Martin County Sheriff’s Office noted signs of impairment, including sweating and lethargic movements, and conducted field sobriety tests.

The affidavit stated his eyes appeared bloodshot and glassy and his pupils were extremely dilated. Police reported finding hydrocodone pills in his pocket.

Woods told law enforcement he had undergone seven back surgeries and more than 20 operations on his leg and that he took prescription medications. He later said he was seeking treatment.

Reports at the time indicated Nordegren was concerned following the arrest. Local authorities with the Martin County Sheriff’s Office continued to review evidence related to the incident.

Woods has not played competitively since the 2024 Open Championship. In March, he said he was hoping to compete at the Masters in April, but he ultimately missed the entire 2026 season.

His potential return to competition has not been determined. The PGA Tour has not commented publicly on when he might next appear at an official tour event.

Charlie Woods college commitment to Florida State

Charlie’s decision to join the Seminoles extends a family legacy in golf while launching his own collegiate career. The Friday gathering at Benjamin High School underscored the family’s support as he prepares to take the next step.

The school’s location near West Palm Beach has drawn broader attention to the region’s deep ties to the sport. Florida State University, home of the Seminoles athletics program, has long cultivated competitive golf at the collegiate level.
