Kentavious Caldwell-Pope is in talks on a buyout with the Memphis Grizzlies and intends to sign with the Philadelphia 76ers, according to a report shared on social media by insider Chris Haynes. The move would reunite Caldwell-Pope with LeBron James ahead of the 2026-27 NBA season.
The Philadelphia 76ers have already overhauled their roster this offseason, trading for Jaylen Brown and signing LeBron James. With the starting lineup largely set, team decision-makers are now focused on shoring up depth to support a championship push.

Haynes reported that the veteran guard, a former Los Angeles Lakers teammate of James, intends to join the 76ers once a buyout with Memphis is completed. The 3-and-D wing is valued for perimeter defense and reliable outside shooting, as well as postseason experience.
Caldwell-Pope contributed to the Lakers’ 2020 NBA championship and later played a significant role in the Denver Nuggets’ 2023 title run. His addition would bring two-time championship pedigree to a Philadelphia bench seeking proven playoff performers.
Last season with the Grizzlies, Caldwell-Pope averaged 8.4 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game. He shot 41.0 percent from the field and 31.6 percent from three-point range.
While terms are not finalized, the potential signing underscores the 76ers’ effort to add seasoned role players around their new core in pursuit of an NBA title. The ongoing moves come amid broader LeBron James free agency discussions around the league.
