The Broderick Jones trade gives the Dallas Cowboys added depth at offensive tackle ahead of the 2026 season. According to reports, Dallas has acquired the former first-round pick from the Pittsburgh Steelers, sending 2027 third- and sixth-round selections in exchange for Jones and a 2027 fourth-round pick headed back from Pittsburgh.
Jones was selected 14th overall in the 2023 NFL Draft after winning two national titles at Georgia. He appeared in 17 games with 11 starts as a rookie, then stepped into a full-time role in his second season. In 2025, he started all 11 games he played before landing on injured reserve in late November with a neck injury sustained in Week 12 against the Chicago Bears.
Before the injury, Jones allowed six sacks and 23 pressures in 2025, according to TruMedia. That followed a 2024 campaign in which he was credited with 11 sacks allowed over 17 games.
The Steelers’ decision to move on had been building. In April, the club declined Jones’ fifth-year option, positioning him for unrestricted free agency after the 2026 season. Pittsburgh also reinforced the position by drafting tackle Max Iheanachor 21st overall in 2026. He is expected to step in at right tackle opposite 2024 first-round left tackle Troy Fautanu.
For Dallas, the move brings in a first-round pedigree to bolster the depth chart, particularly behind right tackle Terence Steele. Over the past two seasons, Steele, who is under contract through 2028, has allowed 16 sacks and 88 total pressures.

Given that context, the return of two selections in what is expected to be a strong 2027 draft class is solid value.
