Quantum Systems maritime domain is now operational, extending the company’s unmanned portfolio from air and land into sea-based missions. The company unveiled Seavex and Subvex as its first maritime platforms, aimed at persistent surveillance, protection of critical infrastructure and Counter-UAS operations.

According to the company, the launch is taking place in Portugal alongside a major NATO maritime exercise. Seavex and Subvex will undergo sea trials to validate capabilities above and below the waterline in an operational setting.

The two systems are fully integrated with MOSAIC UXS, the firm’s common software architecture for air, land and sea. This enables joint deployment with unmanned aerial and ground assets, creating an interoperable system that can be expanded with additional platforms, sensors and third-party technologies.

Company co-chief executive and founder Florian Seibel said the goal is to connect domains into “one autonomous system across air, land and sea.”

Seavex and Subvex: autonomous capabilities on the water and below the surface

Seavex is a long-endurance unmanned surface vehicle engineered for maritime ISR missions. The platform is designed for up to two months of endurance and carries surveillance radar, counter-drone radar and electro-optical sensors with onboard AI processing.

Seavex can launch and recover UAVs, and it can dock with, recharge and retrieve mission data from UUVs.

Subvex is an AI-enabled unmanned underwater vehicle intended for autonomous ISR at depths reaching 6,000 meters. Outfitted with sonar and acoustic sensors and onboard edge processing, it can operate for up to four days while in active transit and supports distributed operations with multiple Subvex units.

It can also remain on the seabed in passive surveillance mode for weeks for persistent underwater monitoring.

Used together, the systems extend reconnaissance from the surface to the deep ocean and support missions such as critical infrastructure protection, maritime border security, anti-submarine surveillance and blue-water surveillance. Integration within MOSAIC UXS allows sensor data from different domains to be fused into a single operational picture.

The expansion arrives as maritime security gains prominence, with coastlines, ports and key marine infrastructure requiring persistent monitoring. Threats increasingly traverse air, surface and subsurface environments, which drives the need to detect and connect information across the waterline into one view for operators.

Dirk Zademack, VP Quantum Maritime, said maritime operations face vast operating areas with limited crews and assets. He added that the company is applying at sea the same multi-domain, collaborative approach it has developed in the air and on land with Seavex and Subvex enhancing presence above and below the surface and consolidating information for operators.

The launch is the latest step in the company’s growth as a deep-tech defense prime. Quantum Systems has moved beyond aerial platforms to a broader unmanned portfolio and has built software, AI and systems integration expertise to connect them.

With MOSAIC UXS as the software backbone, the company says it can deliver an integrated and scalable system across domains.
