Russell Brand found guilty in London on Thursday of raping one woman and sexually assaulting three others following a four-week jury trial at Southwark Crown Court.
The proceedings reviewed seven charges brought by six women for incidents alleged to have occurred between 1999 and 2009, according to court filings and statements in open court.

Brand, 51, was initially charged with three counts of rape, three counts of sexual assault and one count of indecent assault. Jurors returned guilty verdicts in four encounters, including a 2004 sexual assault in Soho involving the grabbing of a woman’s breasts and the rape of another woman at his home in 2009.
High Court of England and Wales Judge Joel Bennathan denied Brand’s application for bail, ordered him into custody and said he should expect a “custodial sentence of some length,” according to courtroom remarks.
Sentencing is scheduled for Monday. During roughly four hours of testimony, Brand denied the allegations and said the sexual encounters were consensual. Authorities have also opened inquiries into additional rape allegations raised by two other women.
